(2) System of management of consumables (Fig. 2-6)
Typical consumable items in rolling stock are the pantograph slide plates, brake shoes, and disk linings. These are inspected every three days. To enable this work to be performed more efficiently than in the past, when it had been done by hand, and automatic inspection system using supersonic sensors and image processors has been developed. This system automatically measures the amount of wear without contact from running rolling stock entering and leaving the depot. The measured data is linked with data on the rolling stock running km etc. and used for estimating wear trends and the extent of use.
